We are a sailing and rental centre located within the world renowned Malcesine Sailing Centre (Fraglia Vela Malcesine) focussing on courses and rental to holiday makers from UK, Italy nad Germany. We offer RYA and VDWS (German federation) courses in sailing and windsurfing and our own foiling courses.
Watersports centre and rental
Passports, driving licence, sailing certificates
If you are renting from our watersports centre, we will need to hold some identification such as a passport or a driving licence (Note that in Italy it is a legal requirement for drivers to carry their documents at all times). If you a renting a high-performance dinghy or catamaran, we may ask for proof of experience or for a demonstration of skill and for those unfamiliar with righting a capsized boat, we offer a one-hour instruction on how to do this. Our boats all carry mast-head buoyancy to prevent total inversion.
Parking on-site and nearby
You can park at the watersports centre (FVM) most weekdays and at weekends when there is not a major regatta. Just take a ticket at the barrier straight ahead and then turn left towards our centre. The first 20 minutes is free and parking tickets can be paid at the machine by the club main entrance. Parking is 1€ / hour.
SAILING SCHOOL AND WATERSPORTS CENTRE
WINDSURFERS, DINGHIES AND CATAMARANS
Professional windsurf and sailing school – courses for beginners, improvers and experts
We are the only RYA and VDWS sailing school on Lake Garda and are certified to run courses in dinghy sailing, catamaran sailing, windsurfing, keelboat and powerboat. We also offer our own courses tailored to shorter stays, or for those who don’t want to spend the whole week on the water. For details of courses, see our dinghy sailing, catamaran sailing, windsurfing, keelboat or powerboat course details.
We are based at the purpose built Malcesine sailing centre, called the Fraglia Vela Malcesine (FVM), which means a fully operational watersports centre with facilities for sailors and non-sailors as well as being perfectly placed for walking, cycling or taking a bus to explore the lakeside.
We have boards and rigs, dinghies and catamarans to suit all sizes, ages, weights and abilities. The location is perfect for your first venture onto a board or boat, for perfecting your skills or for just having a blast.
We can offer formal courses from beginner to expert, wind conditions permitting, over a period of days or weeks. For more information on wind and optimum sailing times, see our sailing and windsurfing information.
We have excellent instructors who all speak English
Our instructors are English, German or Italian but all speak excellent English. They are trained by the RYA (Royal Yachting Association), the Italian FIV (Federazione Italiana Vela) or the German VDWS (Verbund Deutscher Windsurf Schule).
Our wide range of equipment means that we have boards and sails, dinghies and catamarans to suit the young, old, fit, not-so-fit, brave and not-so-brave, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the lake and progress at their own speed.
If you want a mix of windsurfing. catamaran sailing and dinghy sailing, we can arrange that. Talk to Alison or Charles on +39 338 6053096 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss your requirements.
Don’t forget we can also provide SUPs and kayaks
On-site restaurant and bar, others nearby
There are plenty of places to sit on the grass for a snack – please collect up any rubbish and bottles – while the onsite restaurant provides both excellent food and dry toilets. Please do not use the restaurant in wetsuits or wet clothing.
Further afield there is Navene, 200m North along the cycle path with restaurants (our favourite is the “Oliveto” with its olive grove seating behind, overlooking the lake) and the snack bar “Locanda Navene” run by Erika – always cheerful and happy to greet you. Both of these can be found on via Santa Francesca, opposite the bus stop as you enter Navene. Take a moment to look at the church and the pictures of life from 50 years ago, on the wall opposite.
Also in walking distance, but to the South, is the restaurant San Remo and a small supermarket catering to campers and locals. The supermarket “Stubai Markt” is usually open from early until late!
On-site changing rooms, toilets and showers
There are full shower and changing facilities, with toilets, underneath the main building. The stairs down to the women’s changing area is to the left of the main entrance while men’s changing is down the steps to the right.
We have modesty cubicles by our office for changing into and out of wetsuits or swimming costumes.
We offer open-rack clothing storage and can secure valuables in our locked cupboard.
